2. Consultancy Center for Romanian Chemical Industry, TEMPUS project no. S_JEP 12031 - 97
The project is concerned with the need to develop the capacity of universities in Romania to cooperate with enterprises, so as to enable Romanian industry to meet the challenges involved in future membership of the European Union. Romanian industry in the Metal Production, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Energy sectors, with which this project is concerned, has need for the continuing updating and retraining of ots existing staff. This is particularly true in areas concerned with Environmental Monitoring and Depollution Techniques, and this TEMPUS project established and equiped a National Consultancy Center, to be based in the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, the largest university in Romania, and run jointly with the University "Petrol – Gaze" of Ploiesti.
3.
Advanced oxidation of micropollutants present in water sourcesThe program ‘Advanced oxidation of micropollutants present in water sources’ provides studies o destruction of various toxic and nonbiodegradable compounds using mixed systems of oxidant agents: O2, H2O2, O3, without or with catalysts. Kinetic tests are used for establishing the mechanism and modeling of advanced oxidation. Based on experiments carried out in dynamic system a micropillot plant is going to be built.

Development of ‘Applied Thermodynamics abd Electrochemistry’ thoroughgoing and PH. D. degree studies in context of 2000 year Romania
The strategic objective of the project is to provide a greater adaptiveness and flexibility of chemical engineers to the priorities of technological progress in connexion with the challenges of market economy in ROMANIA of 200 years.
To achieve this project the following specific objectives are proposed:
- reorganizing of educational curriculum for thoroughgoing courses by identifying the developing trends and evaluating the priorities in the structure of the "Applied Thermodynamics and Electrochemistry" courses according to the 2000 years evolution.
- creating a research group for doctoral stages in biophysical chemistry by developing of own research in the field and by awarding fellowship grants for masters and Ph.D. degrees in France and/or Canada.
